My little niece Julia

My little niece is going to turn 2 next week! It's amazing how fast all those kids grow...
I wish I could give her a big hug and a big-big kiss, but all I can is blow my kisses in Skype.
It is hard to be so far apart, but I am so thankful for all the technology that helps me be in contact with my family, to chat with my mom, to see my little niece grow.

My sister took pictures of her daughter some time ago, but they turned out a little dark (she probably didn't check the settings) and not that great, so I was really excited to spend some time in Photoshop and fix the pictures for her.

Here is what I got. Some are just simple edits, some are more creative one.

My photoLOVE to animals

I just love playing with photoshop actions and see how not-so-good shot getting better. I don't think I would have time and patience to figure out how to edit everything by myself, but the more I use actions, the more I actually learn about the programm and how it works.

These are two shots that were taken from pretty far away. That's probably the only way to take a shot without disturbing an animal.
The one with the cat was taken in march 2011 and the one with the squirrel  in november of 2011.

The expression on the cat's face is so adorable. I can actually feel that warm evening sun that cat is enjoying just looking in it's eyes. I think I'm missing having cats a little. They are just so furry and cozy and fun to snuggle with if they let you.

Squirrels...I see them every day jumping from tree to tree and digging for food in our yard. So it's no more a surprise for me to see one (it WAS when I first came here. Don't think there were any squirrels near my apartment in Russia).
Even though I got used to them it's still fun trying to capture them. Boy, they are quick!

So here I am, girl who likes to take pictures of animals...any kind...
Hope you are enjoying them as much as I do.

For those who is interested I tried to use the Rule of Third while cropping the second image. Originally squirrel was just a little more closer to center and I felt that the branch was drawing all the attention instead of the little furry creature.  Now it looks much better!

By the way, I have tons of other shots with squirrel. I will share couple of my favorites some time soon.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day/evening/night etc.

Celebrate LOVE

Hope everybody had a wonderful Valentine's Day. I sure did have surprise in a form of flowers and chocolates that I have been craving for so bad lately. Thank you, sweetheart!

Thinking about love it's not only the love to your partner that you should celebrate, but also love to your kids, love between siblings, and love in general.
When I was a kid I used to think that Valentine's Day is some holiday for adults, but it is not.

So i wanted to share the picture I took last spring. I absolutely love how my kids holding hands just watching the ocean. It is one of my favorite of them two together. It is amazing how they love each other no matter what.

Love and celebrate LOVE every day!

Boy or Girl??!!

Sorry that I made all you wait... I just really wanted to see how many of you could really guessed it)
My ultrasound was about two hours away from home, so when we got there I was really impatient.

Here is the picture of the baby's profile. I have probably 4 different ones on the CD, because the ultrasound lady was admiring the poses and views and kept on taking picture, thinking that this one is definetely better than the previous one)))

JUMP UP HIGH, or A Day with the boys

I love pictures of details or just parts of something. Especially if a shots pictures an action.
I was looking through the archive and found this picture of my son Andrew and his friend Alex. It was shot on May 10, about two weeks before Andrew's birthday, on the playground in Ocean View where we sometimes go after his gymnastics class. Andrew and his friend Alex have about 3 years age difference and sometimes do not get along way too well, but when they are it is pure joy to watch them play.
It was a wonderful weather that way. We always try to enjoy those days before the sweaty heat of summer will  start to annoy me. So we decided not to wastea warm and sunny day and head to the playground right after the class.
What always amazes me is no matter how many slides, swings or any other equipment there is on the playground, boys will have way more fun just running around or jumping. And if they finally do get on the slide or anything else, they will make it a competition. Don't even try to keep up with them!

What I remember from that day:
- that Andrew's shirt was of the same bright orange color as the slide on the playground
- that we had lunch and there was a nice breeze
- that we were swinging and sun that was peeking through the leaves of the tree was shining into our eyes
- that if Andrew managed to jump a little higher his smile would be so bright that I couldn't resist not to smile back

And even if those jumps were not that high, there were pretty big for the little man. And that little jumps were making him so happy.

The more I watch my son, the more I learn to be happy with little and simple things, because they are the true happiness...

Anticipation of tomorrow

I just can not wait untilo tomorrow. I am so ready to go to bed...maybe that way morning will come faster))) It is the day of my 20 weeks ultrasound. I am so excited to see my baby again! And finally to know the sex. It is all my impatience....
I actually had a thought to have a surprise and not to reveal the sex. That way you will never have a little thought of regret, because the baby is here already and you can not regret he is not somebody else. You have to love him the way he is. But the more I thought about it the more excited I was getting, so at this point I can not wait until tomorrow. No surprises on the day of birth for me!

My stepdaughter decided to go with us too. Seems like she is pretty excited. That will be her first time being at the ultrasound and hearing the heartbeat and actually seing the baby. Of course she saw the pictures from the first, but you know that it is so much different.

But it is all tomorrow...

For now I will share a picture of my sweet boy riding his Jeep. He is getting so quick on it. I have to explain that the car has two gears but he didn't know about it until not too long ago. He figured it out all by himself. Can not get used how fast he is learning things about this world.

Got to love his racoon hat! He is just so cute wearing it! Love you, my little munchkin!

My photo addiction - Color Bar

I absolutely love editing pictures though I might not know a lot about it. My new addiction is making pictures with color palette. You can make any old picture look new again just by making pallete out of it. Not even talking about other uses of the pallete.

For creating the pallete I am using Photoshop action Instant Color Bar created by Rita at The CoffeeShop Blog

All the colors are customizable. This is my first try, I think I could use some more practice choosing colors)))
Still LOVE IT!

What do you think?

Polar Bear Plunge 2012

It is our third year coming and second year participating in Polar Bear Plunge in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.
Don't think that I do it! No way! Water is so cold that I think I won't make it pass the undressing part :)
It is all my stepdaughter Amber who has turned 14 already! I am so proud of her for doing that!

Way to go, girl!

Not only she runs and jump into icy cold water, but she does it twice! Moreover all that freezing fun supports and raises money for Special Olympics.

There is going a lot of pictures this time)Plus some links at the end of the post. So get ready!)))

It was pretty cold this year. The temperature was about the same, but that wind on the beach just gets you down to your bones. I wish I had a hat with me..
The sky was gray and only right before the plunge you could see a little of blue sky.

Thank you for staying with me till the end) Hope it was not too much.

Some more pics and infor about this year plunge you can find at Delaware Online

If you haven't read posts from last two years, here are the links

Happy Birthday, Pop-pop!

My father-in-law just had a birthday, so I wanted to share the card I made for him.
It is not too easy to make a card for a man, so I decided to keep it as simple as possible. Still think it could be another font fot the sentiment, but that is all I had.
Another thing the raffia I use was of very close color, so its hardly seen there. Always keep improving, right)))

So here it is for you to judge  ;)
I am entering the following challenges with this card
Just magnolia - Challenge 142 anything goes
Crafty Ribbons Challenge - ONE FOR THE MEN or BOYS
DYSU Challenge Blog - Anything goes

Expecting a miracle

I think that pregnancy is one of the most wonderful things that can happen in life of a woman! It is the time not only to think about yourself, but the time to learn to take care of an unborn person whose health and life depend on you. You have to sleep, to eat, to rest for the little one.
Even in the very beginning when you can't feel those little movements of your child, you are happy and smiling just knowing that there is a new life growing and developing inside of you.
I love being everything about being pregnant...
I love when people ask about when is my due
I love wake up in the morning smiling and knowing that I have a little but very important life inside of me
I love when people look at my belly and smile
I love everything I want...even if it is chocolate ice cream at 4 am)))
I love seeing my midwife and listening to the heart beat of my baby. That instantly makes me so happy
I love feeling baby moving and kicking
I love anticipating the birth of my child
I love imagining his/her little cute face...

i think i can continue this forever...

But all I really want to say that I am excited and happy that I can experience all the joys of pregnancy again. One more time...

My dear baby, i can not wait to see your little face, your tiny hands and your first smile!
But for now i will keep you safe inside of me fiiling myself with the most positive thoughts and emotions!

Enclosed in his cocoon, the unborn child
is a source of joy and anticipation.
He teases his mother with fluttering movements and entertains her with dreams rich in symbols.
The nine months of waiting are a chance to prepare body and mind for completely new focus of motherhood.
As you eat, breathe and move, you do so on another's behalf.
